Useful options

Multieditting

There is a wonderful option in Notepad++ called Multi-editing, or multi-select. By using the Ctrl button and the left mouse button, you can pick out multiple symbols, consistent or disjoint, to edit all at once. One useful application of this is picking out multiple tags to edit at the same time. This feature is disabled by default. To enable it, navigate to: Options/Settings/Editing and choose multiediting.

Clipboard History

Another useful feature is the stored clipboard history. It is extremely useful when frequently copying and pasting different text snippets because earlier clipboard states can be recalled. This feature is disabled by default, and can be enabled by going to: Correction/Panel of file history.
